These vibrations will dissolve your debt

This project merges together the resonance of the human voice with the power of active listening, asserting the need for both in movements seeking political and economic change.

"These vibrations will dissolve your debt" is inspired by “The People’s Microphony Camerata” (PMC), an experimental choir formed by Elana Mann and musician Juliana Snapper in the spring of 2012. In the video, the PMC performs Pauline Oliveros' influential work "Teach Yourself to Fly (Dedicated to Amelia Earheart)," 1974, which was originally created to foster a deep listening experience within a group. Footage of the PMC is threaded throughout the video along with short vignettes of political provocations in the city of Los Angeles, and shots of the Los Angeles river.

The video is shown as an installation with fabric structures and a songbook of pieces written for the PMC by composers, musicians, artists and poets around the world.

Featured as performers in the video are the following PMC members: Alanna Simone, Allison Johnson, Andrew Choate, Annette Weisser, Cynthia Paige Aaron, Elana Mann, Emily Mast, Juliana Snapper, Julie Tolentino, Karen Atkinson, Kimberly Kim, Michele Jaquis, Penny Folger, Rachel Finkelstein, Sascha Goldhor, and Vivian Bang
