What Can Listening Do (Part 1)? was a curated group show that presented a growing movement of Los Angeles based artists who use aurality (and its limits) to alter consciousness and spur action. The artists included were: Alison O'Daniel, Lucky Dragons, Susan Silton and Clarissa Tossin.
An Artist-in-Residence project at Crossroads School for the Arts & Sciences.

What Can Listening Do? (Part 2) was a socially engaged project by artist Elana Mann, which involved the creation of original sonic instruments for protest and ritual. Mann worked with students from Crossroads School for the Arts & Sciences to produce over 200 wooden shakers with slogans/symbols. The student pieces were displayed alongside a new set of Mann’s signature hand-made porcelain rattles. What Can Listening Do? (Part 2) is part of an ongoing series by Mann (since 2019) involving ceramic rattles, which she uses in group demonstrations on the street and in smaller ceremonies within domestic settings. The project culminated with a large-scale performance that activated the rattles and shakers at the Sam Francis Gallery.
