GIVE IT TO ME, DO IT TO ME, MAKE ME...

During her tenure as a graduate student at California Institute of the Arts, Mann solicited performance directions from her classmates. In the resulting project, GIVE IT TO ME, DO IT TO ME, MAKE ME..., Mann interpreted and performed all of the sixteen pieces she was given within the span of one week.

All the pieces in GIVE IT TO ME, DO IT TO ME, MAKE ME... were performed during the run of the California Institute of the Arts MFA mid-residency exhibition in which all graduate students showed recent work. The piece revealed the community in which it was produced and the interaction of Mann within that social space.  All of the directions Mann received, along with a schedule and the invitation to participate were displayed on a long wall next to an empty frame.  As each performance was created, a snapshot was printed and the empty frame was filled with the photo documentation of the performance.
